Bryan steers to fourth-place finish in Camp Barnes Benefit at Georgetown
Bryan Bernheisel made a surprise start at Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.) on Thursday afternoon aboard his Dieffenbach’s Kettle Chips No. 119 Late Model for the 50th running of the Camp Barnes Benefit race. (Rick Neff photos)
With 20 Late Models entered for the event raising money for the Delaware State Police, Bryan’s sixth-place finish in his heat race pinned him on the sixth row for the $5,500-to-win A-Main. Wheeling his way into the top-five, Bernheisel gained eight positions in the 50-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Ross Robinson, Rick Eckert, and Trevor Collins to the checkers with Jamie Lathroum completing the Top-5 finishers.
The following night for prelims to kick off the Mid-Atlantic Championship, Bernheisel timed in fourth-fastest overall before placing third in his heat.
Earning the fifth-starting position for Saturday’s $7,000-to-win finale via the redraw, Bryan held onto a ninth-place finish after experimenting with his setup before the 40-lapper.
